Jimmy Buffet is not only an artiste but is a licensed pilot also. He started as a country singer in the late 1960s and his first album Down to Earth was launched in 1970. Afterwards he switched to Key West and started combining different themes for a sound called 'gulf and western'. He gets inspirational ideas for his books and songs by visiting Caribbean island of Saint Barts and other islands. Buffet released his third album in 1973, followed by A1A in 1974. More smashing works followed later on and was much acclaimed for all times by the enthusiasts. His magnetism attracted a great number of public in concerts during the 1980s and came aroudn popular concert draw. He dished out album after album in a series after that and also ventured into writing and merchandising. He inaugurated his first restaurant in Key West under the 'Margaritaville' chain in the year 1985.
Jimmy Buffet launched Margaritavlille Records in 1993, with supply through MCA Records. He eventually got out of his MCA record deal culminating a two record deal with another company. Some of albums snatching the hearts of his public were Christmas Island, some holiday songs and others like Parakeets which was based on a collection of Buffet songs sung by children. Jimmy Buffet then created a musical Don't Stop the Carnival based on a novel however it failed to generate appreciation from Broadway. His big break came when he played on the White House lawn in the year 2000 while Bill Clinton was the President. His fame has made him start many other business projects that cash in on his name. Margaritaville Cafe and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant chains are run in his name. He also partly owns two minor league teams. All of these ventures earn him about $100 million an year.
In 2006, Jimmy Buffet dived into an altogether different venture to launch his own beer called Land Shark Lager. He had to enter into partnership with Anheuser-Busch, a brewing company for this project. As of now, Buffet remains a big hit with his audience and his tickets sell out in a jiffy.
