Fleetwood Mac Tickets

Despite their intermittent disappearing acts since their debut in 1967, Fleetwood Mac is one popular band. No matter how long or unexpected the absence, they make a grand entrance on the music scene and the crowds go wild. Named for drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie, the band came up with classic hits such as "Little Lies" and "Rhianon," and more recently, "Peacekeeper" and "The Chain," stealing the prime spots on all sorts of hit charts. Their music, rock-solid as their fan base, has evolved through the decades and resonates with the fresh crop sensibilities as well as with the die-hard fans of the ‘70s and ‘80s music.

Fleetwood Mac's music has flowed in and out of multiple sub-genres of rock, ranging from blues-rock to pop-rock, and hard-rock. Originally from London, Fleetwood Mac's appeal extended beyond the UK early on in their career; they extended themselves in turn, and came to be known as a British-American band.  The band has been known to shuffle the members around frequently but some of the original members have kept reappearing with each genesis. Currently Fleetwood Mac has John Mcvie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood. The only member who has remained present since the band was formed some forty years ago, is Mick Fleetwood and the one who has been among the most regular but happens to be absent on their latest tour, is keyboardist Christine McVie.

Fleetwood Mac enjoyed the peak of their success during the ‘60s British Blues boom. Peter Green, the band's guitarist, was the secret sauce then. The following decade saw an inclination towards pop rather than blues and this nuanced style established Fleetwood Mac's capability of adapting to diverse styles while maintaining their uniqueness. US President Bill Clinton chose their song "Don't Stop" as his campaign theme song and requested Fleetwood Mac (the Buckingham-Nicks-McVie-McVie-Fleetwood lineup) to perform at his Inaugural Ball in 1993. The band's success seemed to have fizzled out a bit when some key members left in the ‘90s. However, the return of Stevie Nicks and Buckingham in 1997 and the making of the live album The Dance rejuvenated Fleetwood Mac and pushed them right up to the top of the US charts for the first time in fifteen years. They performed at the Grammy Awards the following year after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They also received the "Outstanding Contribution to Music" award at the BRIT Awards (British Phonographic Industry Awards) in 1998.

Fleetwood Mac's latest tour was announced in 2008. The band (minus Christine McVie) was scheduled to start the tour in March 2009. The tour is titled "Unleashed" and branded as a ‘greatest hits' show. They revealed in a recent interview that they plan to play hits such as "Storms," "Gold Dust Woman," and "I Know I'm Not Wrong" on this tour. Fleetwood Mac's '09 tour coincides with the release of a new CD and DVD box set of their album "Rumours" which contains previously unreleased tracks and footage.

During their tour of New Orleans, Louisiana, vocalist Stevie Nicks wowed the audience with a fragment of a new song she's written about the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. Fleetwood Mac has a way of surprising the audience with their reincarnations but the thing that makes them welcome at any given moment on the music scene is their originality and innovative brilliance.
